Spring and Fall provide wonderful birdwatching on Portsmouth Island. A wide variety of shorebirds frequent Portsmouth's unique tidal flat. Super-rarities such as Curlew Sandpipers and Bar-tailed Godwits have been seen here.

Many types of wading birds, several Tern species, Oyster Catchers, Clapper Rails, Seaside Sparrows, Piping Plovers, Ring-necked Pheasants and Black Skimmers to name a few can be found here!
